This is not just another party under the stars, it is AMONG them! Twilight Galaxy promises you a fabulous evening of fun and friends and fiction and fantasy! Be sure to get your fangs on those alien food and drinks, soak in the otherworldly lights and sounds and encounter strange creatures from outerspace (we're not kidding). The highlight of the event: Performances by Analog Girl, Breakbeat Theory, Amberhaze, Percy & The Stones and Cosmic Armchair. So, rocket down in your best alien-wear and dance away!

We have also invited a few shops to set up a small fleamarket exclusively put together for you exciting space freaks. There will also be a extraterrestrial D-I-Y alien merchandise stall selling the most bizzare items in the whole goddamn universe.

THE SOUP KITCHEN PROJECT

"The project is an initiative to feed the poor in Singapore. The primary target is the poor in the vicinity of Food #03 - Little India - including the homeless, cardboard and can collectors, old folks who live in 1-room flats and stranded foreign workers."

For more information and to volunteer, check out the Food #03 website!

We also support Post-Museum, "an independent cultural and social space which seeks to examine contemporary life, promote the arts and connect people. It is a ground-up project initiated by Singaporean curatorial team p-10 and it opened in September 2007." Visit its website at http://www.post-museum.org/!

ANALOG GIRL//

Named by TIME magazine as one of 5 Music Acts To Watch in 2008 alongside Japanese musician Cornelius is Singapore-based electro-rock chanteuse The Analog Girl. “You’ve heard the hype and it’s true” reveals The Straits Times about the enigmatic performer who is turning heads with her latest EP Sometime Next Galaxy. The Analog Girl first sprung into the international spotlight when American sportswear giant Nike featured a track from her debut self-released, self-produced album The TV Is On on their European ad campaign Changing The Game in 2005.

With a multi-city North American tour in the making, The Analog Girl is fast becoming one of tomorrow’s brightest stars to rock a different sound - at a city near you, with an ever-changing array of space-age machines like the Tenori-On.

AMBERHAZE//
amberhaze is the current solo project of Singapore-based multiinstrumentalist
Giuliano Gullotti. Equal parts shoegaze, post-rock and electronica, amberhaze
blends warm textured layers with simple, candid melodies.
amberhaze represents a process towards a sound in constant
evolution in which Giuliano lets experimentation lead the way.

Giuliano’s music attracted the attention of event
managers and concert organisers. In 2008 he opened for
Japanese math rock band Toe in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and
was also in the line-up of some of the major festivals in
Singapore, including Baybeats 2008, South East Asia’s biggest
indie festival.

BREAKBEAT THEORY//
A live electronica band formed by like-minded musicians who share a common love for music and alternative forms of music production. Built upon the live interaction between members, Breakbeat Theory creates dance music that is free-form and unrehearsed, immersing the audience in its sonic chicanery. All sonic textures are spontaeneously developed and improvised upon onstage. Breakbeat Theory aims to be the new test bed and cross pollinator between live musicians and the DJ.

DRESSING TIPS

We STRONGLY STRONGLY recommend that you dress up as extraterrestrial beings at the party, or else a theme party won't be what it should be! Don't be daunted by the sound of that though, as great costumes do not always require great wealth to make. It doesn't even require lots of effort! Here are a couple of suggestions to give you an idea on how to be a drama on a dime. Make those creative juices churn!

Materials:
Aluminium foil
Garbage bags
Vinyl sheets
Duct tape
Feathers
Nettings

Ready mades:
Tupperware
Mismatch those socks and shoes
Shoulder pads
Fancy nail polish
Goggles
Swimming cap

Don't forget, first 30 attendees who dress up according to the theme get free gifts! Our Fashion Scouts will be giving out freebies to super fancy aliens at the event too, so get spotted!

WHY 12 JULY??

It is the birthday of Richard Douglas Husband (12 Jul 1957 – 1 Feb 2003)! He was an astronaut and the space shuttle commander of STS-107 (Columbia). He was killed when the craft disintegrated after reentry into the Earth's atmosphere. The STS-107 was a 16 day mission to gain insight into the environment of space and improve life on Earth as well as enable future space exploration. Husband is a recipient of the Congressional Space Medal of Honor, an award that recognises "any astronaut who in the performance of his duties has distinguished himself by exceptionally meritorious efforts and contributions to the welfare of the Nation and mankind." Twilight Galaxy celebrates Husband and his gallantry. We applaud the adventurous people who have a desire to discover, especially for the Greater Good.

Aaaaaand of course, it's a Sunday so we could give the clubs a break and have some extraterritarian fun before the Monday blues meteor upon us.
