It is the birthday of Richard Douglas Husband (12 Jul 1957 – 1 Feb 2003)! He was an astronaut and the space shuttle commander of STS-107 (Columbia). He was killed when the craft disintegrated after reentry into the Earth's atmosphere. The STS-107 was a 16 day mission to gain insight into the environment of space and improve life on Earth as well as enable future space exploration. Husband is a recipient of the Congressional Space Medal of Honor, an award that recognises "any astronaut who in the performance of his duties has distinguished himself by exceptionally meritorious efforts and contributions to the welfare of the Nation and mankind." Twilight Galaxy celebrates Husband and his gallantry. We applaud the adventurous people who have a desire to discover, especially for the Greater Good.
Aaaaaand of course, it's a Sunday so we could give the clubs a break and have some extraterritarian fun before the Monday blues meteor upon us.
